Route 31

Located in Johto

Route 31 leads to Violet City, while containing an entrance to Dark Cave. Cool Trainer Finch is the first "elite" trainer in the game, fighting you only if you beat every other trainer on the route, and using some sort of gimmick in their battling style. In this case, Finch uses Air Balloons that provide immunity against ground-type moves. Defeating him rewards you with one of your own - particularly useful against Falkner's Mud-Slaps.
