It hides any shiny object it finds in a secret location. Murkrow and Meowth loot one another's stashes. Murkrow a great team member for farming held items! It learns Thief naturally at level 25, which is waaaay before you can get the TM in Mahogany Town. That plus [Super Luck](/abilities/superluck) which boosts wild item rates already (60% common, 20% rare)... That's pretty useful for farming items!
