Gift Pokémon
Throughout your adventure, you'll receive various Pokémon as gifts from NPCs. Here's the complete list:
Early Game Gifts

The Odd Egg from the Day Care is guaranteed to hatch into a Shiny baby Pokémon with:

Trade Benefits
Many of these trades offer excellent value:
- Chansey trade on Route 14 comes with a Lucky Egg
- Kangaskhan and Mr. Mime are exclusive to trades
- All traded Pokémon have beneficial natures for competitive use
- Hidden Abilities make these Pokémon immediately viable
Tips
- Don't skip the Odd Egg - It's a guaranteed Shiny with Hidden Ability!
- Answer correctly at Dragon's Den to get Dratini with Extreme Speed
- Save before trades if you want to soft-reset for specific IVs (though 14 minimum is guaranteed)
- Many post-game gifts require Kanto Gym progress - plan accordingly
- The Lucky Egg from the Chansey trade is invaluable for training
