Heart & Soul Kanto Postgame & Completion Roadmap
After the Johto League, Heart & Soul opens a second half of the journey: Kanto, its eight Gym badges, a stronger League challenge, and Mt. Silver.
This is a source-backed roadmap, not a claim that every Kanto event has one mandatory route. Use it to understand the verified gates, then choose the order that fits your run.
1. Finish the Johto League
The first Hall of Fame sequence marks you as the Johto Champion and starts the post-League state. Use the Elite Four guide for the League teams, and Trainer Battles & Boss Preparation to plan a team around the next major fights.
2. Board the S.S. Aqua for Kanto
At Olivine Port, the sailor checks for an S.S. Ticket before boarding. The source confirms that arriving through the S.S. Aqua moves the player to Vermilion and begins the Kanto badge state.
This guide deliberately does not claim where the ticket is awarded: the Kanto entry scripts prove the boarding requirement, not a specific ticket-grant sequence.
- Review the broader region and available areas in Locations.
- Check your team before crossing over in Team Builder.
3. Collect the eight Kanto badges
Kanto has eight Gym badges. Each Gym win advances the total badge count, and the final Kanto Gym brings that total to sixteen.
The game source does not establish one universally required Gym order for this guide, so use the live game world and your own team needs rather than following a made-up route.
- See every leader and team in Gym Leaders.
- Use Locations to plan encounters and routes.
- Use Type Chart and Level Caps for battle planning.
4. Return to Professor Oak after badge sixteen
Professor Oak checks for all sixteen badges in Pallet Town. When the check passes, he removes the Mt. Silver guard and tells you that Mt. Silver is reached from Indigo Plateau.
He also tells you that the Kanto League is ready for another challenge. That is a separate, stronger League milestone -- do not confuse it with ordinary trainer rematches.
- Find Pallet Town through Locations.
- Rebuild for the League with Elite Four, Team Builder, and Type Chart.
5. Become Kanto Champion
The later Hall of Fame branch records the Kanto Champion state after the rematch League clear. It also triggers further postgame availability.
For exact trainer data, use Trainers rather than relying on generic route tables.
6. Take on Mt. Silver and Red
After Oak opens the guard, travel from Indigo Plateau toward Mt. Silver. At the summit, Red is a distinct source-backed final battle. Winning awards the active party a Land Ribbon, records the Red completion flag, and runs the game-clear sequence.
- Inspect Red’s exact team.
- Plan the matchup with Trainer Battles & Boss Preparation, Team Builder, and Type Chart.
Optional Kanto gates to keep in mind
The source also confirms that removing the sleeping Snorlax in Vermilion opens the Kanto-side Indigo Junction guard. That event requires the in-game radio check, but this guide intentionally does not invent a broader walkthrough for the radio sequence.
What to do after the main route
Use Rematch Trainers for repeat battles, Pokédex and Locations for collection planning, and Completion Rewards for the verified Trainer Card, diploma, charm, and final-boss milestones.
