Heart & Soul Completion Rewards

Source-backed Heart & Soul completion goals: Trainer Card stars, Pokédex diplomas and charms, League ribbons, and Red’s final-battle reward.

Heart & Soul has several completion milestones, but they are not all the same thing. The source distinguishes Trainer Card stars, Pokédex-completion rewards, League ribbons, and the Mt. Silver finale.

This guide uses the game’s actual checks. It does not turn every broad completion claim into a reward the source does not award.

The four Trainer Card stars

Heart & Soul’s Trainer Card has four source-backed star conditions:

  1. Become Johto Champion. The first Hall of Fame sequence records the Johto Champion state.
  2. Complete the Johto regional Pokédex. The check is for every required caught entry in the Johto Dex; entries the source marks as not required do not block it.
  3. Defeat Red on Mt. Silver. The Trainer Card checks Red’s battle completion.
  4. Become Kanto Champion. The later Hall of Fame sequence records the Kanto Champion state.

The source has exactly these four star checks. Completing the full obtainable Pokédex does not add a fifth Trainer Card star.

Johto Pokédex completion: Oval Charm and diploma

The Game Designer in Celadon City Apartments 3F checks the Johto regional Pokédex. If the regional requirement is complete, the game awards an Oval Charm when you do not already have one and shows a diploma.

The source does not use a simple fixed count here. It checks required caught entries, while excluding entries explicitly marked as not required and non-forced mythical entries.

Full obtainable-Pokédex completion: Shiny Charm and national diploma

The same Game Designer also checks the game’s full obtainable-Dex requirement. When that requirement is met, the script awards a Shiny Charm if you do not already have one, ensures the Oval Charm is present, and shows the national diploma.

“Full obtainable Dex” is intentional wording: the code checks the game’s obtainable list and retains its own exclusions. It is more accurate than claiming that every National Dex entry is required.

League and final-boss rewards

Johto League clear

The first Hall of Fame sequence gives the active party a Champion Ribbon, records the Hall of Fame, and marks the Johto Champion state.

Kanto League clear

The later Hall of Fame sequence again gives the active party a Champion Ribbon and marks the Kanto Champion state.

Defeating Red

At Mt. Silver, defeating Red gives the active party a Land Ribbon, records the Red completion flag, and runs the game-clear sequence.

A practical completion order

  1. Finish the Johto League.
  2. Build out the Johto Pokédex and visit the Celadon Game Designer when ready.
  3. Complete Kanto’s eight badges, return to Oak, and challenge the stronger League.
  4. Reach Mt. Silver and face Red.
  5. Continue the full obtainable-Dex collection for the Shiny Charm and national diploma.

For the route between these milestones, use the Kanto Postgame & Completion Roadmap and the source-backed Locations database.
