Heart & Soul 2.0.4

Heart & Soul 2.0.4 was released on 22 August 2026. This page summarizes the upstream release notes for players; PolishedDex's Heart & Soul data is generated from the matching Release-v2.0.4 source tag.

Save compatibility: the upstream release warns that saves from before 2.0 are not compatible with the 2.x release line. Check the project's official release page before patching or moving a save.

Challenge and randomizer settings

  • The randomizer now has a Gen 1–3 versus Gen 1–9 setting. It defaults to Gen 1–3 and can be changed after starting from the PC challenge menu.
  • The EXP multiplier can also be changed after starting.
  • Static encounters now respect the static-randomizer setting.
  • Mono-type challenge rules now account for evolutionary families, and an encounter does not consume a Nuzlocke encounter when the species cannot fit the selected type.
  • Random starters for a mono-type run follow the selected randomizer generation range.

For the game’s Nuzlocke-specific rules and planning flow, see the Nuzlocke Mode & Rules guide.

Progression and battle updates

  • Kanto level caps were restored.
  • Trainer rematch parties now scale with badge count, while call frequency is unchanged.
  • Goldenrod now has a Move Deleter.
  • Night begins at 7pm under the consolidated time-of-day ranges.
  • Type-effectiveness feedback can appear even before the opposing Pokémon has been seen.
