The postgame is where Modern Emerald puts most of its added content, and it unlocks in a specific order: beat the League, battle Steven in Meteor Falls, then the Elite Four rematch opens up — and after you clear that, the second Steven fight in Meteor Falls rewards you with a mystery egg.

The order

  1. Beat the Elite Four and Wallace. The credits roll and the Lilycove postgame tools unlock.
  2. Battle Steven in Meteor Falls. This gates the next step.
  3. Fight the Elite Four rematch. You choose whether each battle is single or double — the game asks. Their teams are stronger than the first pass.
  4. Beat Steven a second time in Meteor Falls for the unique prize — the mystery egg, which the game's achievement list calls "Get the mystery egg from Steven's rematch in Meteor Falls".
  5. Separately, a Pichu that knows Surf comes from an egg in the Sootopolis house hidden behind the trees, available after beating the game. The two eggs are different rewards, and the game's data lists them separately (the Steven egg is unnamed until it hatches).

The Elite Four rematch levels

Returning ceiling for the standard League run (first clear):

TrainerAce level
Sidney
49
Phoebe
51
Glacia
53
Drake
55
Wallace
58

The Steven rematch

Steven is the hardest fight in the game and the one most people search for. His team, from the game's own trainer data:

PokémonLevel
Skarmory
87
Claydol
85
Aggron
86
Cradily
86
Armaldo
86
Metagross
88

That is level 85–88 across the board — well above every level cap table, which is why the caps only apply to the standard run.

The Battle Frontier

  • Every Frontier trainer has new Pokémon, including the post-Gen-3 additions, and their teams are buffed.
  • Your Pokémon are limited to level 50 in those facilities regardless of their actual level, so a level 100 team is not an advantage.
  • Win streaks multiply Battle Points, and the reward shop is where the Macho Brace, Safari Balls, Max Revives, Max Elixirs, PP Ups and the four legendary tickets come from.
  • Every gym leader, the Elite Four, both champions, Wally, Maxie, Archie, and Red and Leaf appear during Frontier challenges as opponents.
  • If you enabled Frontier bans in Hard mode, legendaries are locked out of your Frontier teams.

Legendaries and mythicals

All of them are reachable in-game, most of them gated behind either the Frontier shop or a prerequisite battle — Mewtwo only appears after Mew, the legendary birds only after Lugia, the beasts only after Ho-Oh, Celebi needs the three Johto beasts in your party and Regigigas needs all six Regis. The legendary page has every location, level and unlock condition.

New areas

The Sealed Chamber puzzle changed, and solving it opens the extra Route 110 and Route 132 areas, the Draco Chamber and the Cave of Shock. There are now six Regis rather than three, with Regidrago and Regieleki on Route 132 and Route 110.

Training and fixes

  • Chansey EXP trainer in Lilycove Gym — six level 100 Blissey.
  • Nurse NPC in Lilycove that exists solely to farm EXP.
  • IV maximizer in Lilycove, needs a level 100 Pokémon, can set IVs to 30 or 31 for a chosen Hidden Power.
  • Ability tutor in Lilycove, after becoming champion.
  • EV training in Lilycove.

Things to do every day

Ten daily events give free items, including the Berry Master and his wife on Route 123, the Berry Gentleman and the Lottery Clerk in Lilycove, and the daily Wonder Trade at the Oldale Town Pokémon Center. Trainer Hill pays out money based on your finishing time — up to 1,000,000 if you clear it in ten minutes or less.

Teams and levels read from the extracted trainer data; postgame ordering, prizes and Frontier behaviour from the hack's official documentation and feature list.
