Money in Modern Emerald is not a problem late, but it is tight early — especially if you turned on the Ultra Expensive challenge. These are the routes that actually pay.

Trainer Hill is the biggest single payout

Trainer Hill pays based on your finishing time, up to 1,000,000 if you clear it in ten minutes or less, making it the fastest money in the game. Your Pokémon are limited to level 50 while you are in there, so you cannot simply bring an over-levelled team and rush it — you need a real level 50 setup. It also hands out XD/Colosseum berries (Salac, Ganlon, Petaya, Apicot) and Luxury Balls as prizes.

Rematch trainers are the steady income

Big Nuggets drop from Rich trainers, but only on rematch — so the loop is: trigger rematches (50% chance after 10 wild or 5 trainer battles won), fight the rich trainers again, and sell the nuggets.

The Amulet Coin always works

In vanilla you have to give the Amulet Coin to the Pokémon that participates. Here the Amulet Coin works regardless of who is holding it, so it belongs on any party member permanently and there is no reason to take it off.

Item selling

  • Big Nuggets from Clamperl (rare drop) and rich rematches.
  • Pearls and Stardust from the usual water-route species, plus the nugget-class drops from the item-drop system, which means every wild battle is now also a small income.
  • Berry farming is more profitable than vanilla: berry trees in rainy routes need no watering, trees do not decay, and yields are 6 max, 4 min with a new Growth Mulch that makes berries grow instantly.

If you turned on Ultra Expensive

The Ultra Expensive challenge multiplies shop prices ×5, ×10 or ×50 — it is a money-scarcity run, not a money-making one. If you enabled it by accident, the Battle Frontier Pokécenter NPC can disable challenges from your savegame.

Marts change with badges

PokéMarts restock as you earn badges, so it is worth revisiting them after each gym rather than buying everything at the first town.
