Modern Emerald Feebas and Milotic: How to Catch and Evolve Them
Feebas is the classic Emerald problem: six water tiles out of hundreds on Route 119, and a Milotic that only evolves at Beauty 170. Modern Emerald softens the first half and keeps the second.
Catching Feebas
"Easier Feebas" is a start-of-game option. With it on, Feebas has a 5% chance on every Route 119 water tile instead of being confined to a handful of specific tiles. With it off, you are doing the vanilla tile hunt — fish every tile, and the trend-phrase mechanic decides which tiles are live.
You need at least the Good Rod to fish for it, and the Super Rod (Route 118, from the fisherman) improves your odds of hitting it at all.
Feebas always holds a Heart Scale, which is worth knowing before you release the ones you do not want — Heart Scales are the evolution item for Sylveon and Togekiss in this hack.
Evolving Feebas into Milotic
Beauty 170 or higher, then level up. There is no Prism Scale and no trade involved.
The route to 170 Beauty is PokeBlocks made from Tamato berries — Tamato has the highest Beauty value of any berry and lowers Speed, which is the traditional trade-off. Feed the maximum number of blocks, check the Beauty stat in the Pokémon's summary, and level up once it is at or above 170.
Because berry trees do not decay in this hack and yields are higher, growing the Tamato berries for this is much less tedious than in Emerald.
Milotic in battle
Milotic is a special wall with Marvel Scale and Recover, and it holds Leftovers with Swift Swim in Wallace's Hard mode Champion fight — which is exactly the problem you will face if you are the one fighting it.
