Heart & Soul Move Tutor Locations, Costs & Moves

Heart & Soul has a much larger tutor network than the old Blackthorn relearner makes it look. The useful correction is that the ordinary tutors are free. The source's shared tutor macro has no money, coin, or item payment step, despite a few outdated lists claiming otherwise.

This guide only lists tutors whose scripts and shipped Heart & Soul map placements agree. The game compiles old Hoenn and FRLG tutor scripts too; those maps are not part of Heart & Soul's world, so they do not belong in a player guide.

Standard tutors

These tutors are free. Most teach their move once; Headbutt is the exception and remains repeatable. Double-Edge has two NPC placements but one shared once-only use, so teaching it at either one removes the other option.

BP tutors

The three BP tutors appear at the Saffron City Fighting Dojo VIP room, Trainer Hill Courtyard, and Battle Frontier Lounge 7. Each site has the same Left, Right, and Elemental tutor menus. The Battle Frontier lounge is the actual third site; "Battle Tower" is a common shorthand, but it is not the map the source uses here.

Blackthorn Move Relearner and Move Deleter

Both services are in Blackthorn City, House 3.

The Move Relearner uses the Pokémon's level-up move list and takes one Heart Scale only after a move is successfully taught. It cannot help while Random Moves is active, if the selected Pokémon is an Egg, if you lack a Heart Scale, or if there is no eligible level-up move.

The Move Deleter is free. Eggs cannot use it, a Pokémon with only one move cannot forget that last move, and the final Pokémon in your party that knows Surf cannot forget Surf. Make sure another party member covers Surf before you try. This is the rare bit of game design that has correctly assumed you might accidentally ruin your own afternoon.

Ulaula Island tutor

The Ulaula tutor asks for five Heart Scales once. After that payment, the menu remains available without another fee.

Acrobatics, Aurora Veil, Brutal Swing, Bulldoze, Confide, Dazzling Gleam, Dragon Tail, Echoed Voice, Flame Charge, Frost Breath, Infestation, Leech Life, Low Sweep, Psyshock, Quash, Round, Scald, Sky Drop, Sludge Wave, Smack Down, Smart Strike, Snarl, Venoshock, Volt Switch, Wild Charge, and Work Up are on this menu.

New Sinjoh Hot Springs PLA tutor

The PLA tutor at New Sinjoh Hot Springs is free, ungated, and repeatable. It teaches Power Shift, Springtide Storm, Mystical Power, Wave Crash, Mountain Gale, Victory Dance, Esper Wing, Bitter Malice, Shelter, Bleakwind Storm, Wildbolt Storm, Sandsear Storm, Lunar Blessing, and Take Heart.

Before you spend anything

Check the Pokémon's learnset and the Moves database first.
Remember that a normal tutor's once-only move and a BP tutor's repeatable purchase are different things.
Bring Heart Scales only for the Blackthorn relearner or the Ulaula tutor's first payment.
Use Trainer Battles to decide whether a move solves an upcoming fight before you spend BP on it. BP is a worse currency than cash because it knows you have plans.
