Ghost Grey Evolution Guide: All 121 Evolutions & Stones
Short answer: Ghost Grey has 121 evolution steps across 209 evolution chains, and it rewires the ones you think you know. Venusaur becomes Blastoise. Charizard becomes a Pokémon literally called GHOST. Arcanine becomes Gyarados at level 10. Nothing evolves by trade -- everything is level, stone, or friendship.
If you came here for one thing: do not assume a Pokémon evolves into what it evolved into in the official games. Check this page or the full browsable chains before you commit a team slot.
How evolution works in Ghost Grey
Four methods exist in the ROM's evolution table, and that is the complete list:
| Method | Steps | What it means |
|---|---|---|
Level up | 87 | Reaches a level |
Evolution stone | 29 | Used on the Pokémon |
Friendship | 3 | Reaches friendship 100, then levels |
Split evolution | 2 | Two possible results from one species |
There are no trade evolutions. Not one. The evolution table contains zero trade entries and the game has no Link Cable, so any species that needed a trade in the official games has been given a different route here -- usually a level or a stone.
The lines that will surprise you
| Evolution | Method |
|---|---|
Venusaur -> Blastoise | Level 18 |
Charizard -> GHOST | Level 36 |
Ribombee -> GHOST | Level 55 |
Cool Spot -> Charizard | Level 16 |
Dragonite -> Bubble | Level 25 |
Arcanine -> Gyarados | Level 10 |
M-Gengar -> Espeon | HarvestStone |
M-Banette -> Remoraid | Level 30 |
Pikaboo -> Gorochu | Level 26 |
Two different Pokémon evolve into a species called GHOST, and Venusaur and Blastoise sit on the same line. This is deliberate. Ghost Grey's author scrambled the evolution tree rather than extending it.

Northern Cave hides five of the six stones. If you are collecting, sweep it with the Itemfinder. Five of the six are also buyable in Saffron City; the Moon Stone is the exception and comes from gifts and pickups instead.
Friendship evolutions
| From | To |
|---|---|
Azurill | Marill |
Botamon | B. Agumon |
Kuramon | Keramon |
All three need friendship 100. Two of them are Digimon starters, and one of them is the Azurill line continuing to behave exactly as you would expect it to.
Split evolutions
| From | To | Trigger |
|---|---|---|
White Hand | Shedinja | Level 20 (Nincada-style slot B) |
White Hand | Umbreon | Level 20 (Nincada-style slot A) |
White Hand reaches level 20 and becomes either Umbreon or Shedinja. The ROM stores this the same way Nincada's two-slot evolution is stored, which is how a species can branch in two directions on the same level.
Checking a line before you train it
The browsable evolution chains show every path a species belongs to, including the species that feed into it. That is the right place to check a specific Pokémon, because this page groups by trigger and the chain view is grouped by family.
If you are deciding whether to keep a Pokémon, the practical version is: check the level threshold here, then check what it becomes, because what it becomes is frequently not what you would guess.
What this guide does not claim
It does not list base stats, learnsets, or move compatibility for any of these forms -- those are on each species' own page. It also does not explain why the tree was scrambled this way; the author has not documented that, and guessing at intent is not useful.
One honest gap: this table covers the 121 unique evolution steps in the ROM's table. If an evolution in your playthrough does not appear here, it is not a hidden method we missed -- tell us, because the table should be complete.
